The Virginia State Corporation Commission has approved a proposal by Dominion Virginia Power to build and operate a solar power project. The plan will incorporate up to 30 megawatts of solar energy production by leasing space on rooftops of commercial, industrial, and state buildings and will provide enough power for 6000 homes during peak daylight hours. Although Dominion asked for $111 million in spending, the amount that they will be allowed to charge customers for the project was capped at $80 million by state regulators.
