Tiger Woods, 1st PGA Tour win since 2009

Tiger Woods, two weeks after another injury scare, wins the PGA Tour at the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Sunday. It was his first victory of the PGA Tour since his controversial sex scandal at the end of 2009, which led to one of the greatest downfalls in sports. With the Masters only two weeks away, Woods reportedly looks more competent than ever to resume his pursuit of Jack Nicklaus in the majors. In a win over Graeme McDowell, Woods closed with a 2-under 70 for a five-shot.

The win on Sunday was very significant to Woods. He played against a strong field, and his performance was so gracious, that he was never seriously challenged on the back nine. Before signing his card, Woods said, “It does feel good. It feels really good. It’s been a lot of hard work.” This was Woods’ 72nd PGA Tour win and it was the first time he had all four rounds under par since he returned from his personal crisis at the 2010 Masters. “I am excited, no doubt. I’m looking forward to the momentum I’ve built here,” Woods said. The Masters will begin on April 5.
