Serena Williams outburst draws fine

Serena Williams, who has a history of verbally lashing out during her games, was given a $2000 fine on Sunday after an outburst towards umpire Eve Asderaki. The outburst occurred during her second set with Australia’s Samantha Stosur. The three-time champion risked banning from the U.S. Open, but tournament officials ruled that the comments made did not constitute a major offense.

Williams refused to apologize for her comments made, but did congratulate Stosur on winning her first major title.
