Jerry Rice Jr., son of NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, has been invited to attend the Baltimore Ravens’ rookie minicamp. Rice Jr. played at UCLA, where he earned a roster spot as a walk-on as well as his bachelor’s degree, prior to enrolling at UNLV for his master’s studies. Rice Jr. recorded only 9 catches for the Bruins, and 11 catches for the Rebels; Rice Jr. scored only one touchdown in college. At his pro day, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.68 seconds, and completed 8 reps on the 225 lb bench press in addition to recording a 33 in vertical leap. “I’m just going to take it step by step and try to make the team and move up,” explained Rice Jr. “I have an overall big goal at hand. I need to reach little stepping stones to try to reach that big goal. Whatever I do, I’m going to make sure I have that 100 percent full effort. Rice and other Ravens rookie hopefuls begin minicamp on Friday.
