Senate looks for immigration compromise

A group of senators is searching for a compromise they can use to create a new United States immigration policy which can be passed in a Republican-controlled House. Differences between the two parties have delayed earlier attempts at reforming the policy. Details of the new proposal have not been revealed.

House Speaker John Boehner explained that he could not think of a way to bring a bill to the floor which relies only on Democrats to pass it. He said, “I don’t see any way of bringing an immigration bill to the floor that doesn’t have majority support of Republicans.”
