Sarah Palin will not run in 2012

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has announced she will not run for President, either by entering the Republican race or as a third-party candidate. She had been considering a run, but faced an October 28 filing deadline for New Hampshire’s primary. States with earlier primaries can hamper latecomers to the race.

Palin vaulted into the public eye in 2008 when she was chosen as Sen. John McCain’s running mate in the presidential election. She drew criticism in some circles, while others praised her values. Palin’s announcement comes a day after Gov. Chris Christie’s that he will not seek the GOP nomination. With both of them out of the hypothetical running, the GOP field has settled.
