Apple founder and former CEO Steve Jobs died Wednesday at 56 years old. He had battled with pancreatic cancer for years, and just earlier this year stepped down as CEO due to health reasons. In a statement on its website, Apple said, “Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being.”

Jobs revolutionized the personal computer market by recognizing the potential of the mouse in interacting with graphic interfaces. Apple was boosted into the competitive field with the iPod, the device which transformed portable music. And it was with Jobs’ unveiling of the iPhone and iPad that he again changed how digital content was consumed. Jobs’ creative contribution was recognized by admirers and competitors alike. At a 2005 commencement address at Stanford University, Jobs said, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
