Petitions to recall Wisconsin Governor

0

The group United Wisconsin delivered a petition with 1 million signatures to the state’s Government Accountability Board in an effort to recall Republican Governor Scott Walker. The group was only required to have 540,000 valid signatures and have managed to nearly match the more than 1.1 million votes that put Gov. Walker in office in 2010.

Ryan Lawler, a board member for United Wisconsin said, “The collection of more than one million signatures represents a crystal clear indication of how strong the appetite is to stop the damage and turmoil that Scott Walker has caused Wisconsin.” Election administrators will be given at least one month to assess signatures. Though Walker has the opportunity to challenge the signatures, one in every three would have to be invalid to avoid recall election.
