Perry will attend future debates

In spite of an earlier threat that he may forgo future debates, Texas Gov. Rick Perry will be attending at least four upcoming showdowns with his fellow Republican presidential candidates. Perry admitted his own shortcomings when it came to debating, and called the schedule excessive. He went on to question the value of oratory skills in the White House. “We’ve got a great debater, a smooth politician in the White House right now, and that’s not working out very well,” he said of President Barack Obama.

Perry recently came under criticism when he had suggested dropping out of debates following poor performances and sinking poll numbers. In an interview Sunday, Perry dispelled that as well as leveled criticisms at Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. He called himself a more “consistent conservative” than Romney.
