Leaders from China and the United States met for a two-day summit outside Palm Springs to discuss their relationship as both countries move into the future. Tensions exist between the countries because of China’s alleged cyberattacks. President Xi Jinping of China explained, “We need to think creatively and act energetically so that working together we can build a new model of major country relationship.”

The summit occurred less than three months after President Xi rose to the position. The two met last year when Xi visited Washington as China’s Vice President.
