Former Republican governor says his party needs a “protocology exam”

With a choice of words that left some chuckling, former Mississippi Republican governor Haley Barbour has become the newest in a line of politicians and analysts who say the Republican party, in the wake of the 2012 presidential election results, needs to do engage in some serious soul searching and rebuilding as it looks ahead to the future. “We’ve got to give our political organization a very serious proctology exam,” said Barbour, “we need to look everywhere.” He added the Republican Party needs to improve its “ground game” if it wishes to stand a chance in 2016. Newly elected Texas Republican governor Ted Cruz added some very serious advice to Barbour’s prompting for Republican reform. Cruz said that if his party doesn’t “do better in the Hispanic community, in a few short years Republicans will no longer be the majority party in” Texas. He pointed out that since Texas has 38 electoral votes, if his party loses the state’s support, “no Republican will ever again win the White House.”
