The trail for the Trayvon Martin shooting case began on Monday. According to prosecutors, George Zimmerman killed Martin “because he wanted to” after becoming tired of “punks,” as Zimmerman was heard saying, getting away with crimes. Prosecutor John Guy claimed Zimmerman was racially profiling Martin, thinking he was about to commit a crime. Guy said, “And he acted on it. That’s why we’re here.”

However, Zimmerman’s defense attorney explained Zimmerman killed Martin as an act of self-defense after the teenager slammed Zimmerman’s head into the sidewalk. Don West showed the jury pictures of Zimmerman’s bruised face saying, “Trayvon Martin armed himself with a concrete sidewalk and used it to smash George Zimmerman’s head.”
