With the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks only five weeks away, organizers behind the building of a memorial in honor of the crew and passengers of United Airlines flight 93 have announced that they are $10 million short of the $62 million fundraising goal. In the wake of the memorial foundation’s announcement, the National Park Foundation has declared that they intend to raise $2 million to help ease the amount of money needed.

United Airlines 93 crashed in a field in Pennsylvania 80 miles south of Pittsburgh after passengers and crew overpowered terrorists that hijacked the plane. The memorial will be dedicated on Saturday, Sept. 10 but will not be complete for several more years.
