Deported American teen to return home

An American teen from Dallas, Texas mistakenly deported to Columbia is set to return to the United States Friday. Jakadrien Turner, 15, who lacked identification at the time, was deported to Columbia when U.S. authorities mistook her for a Columbian national. The girl’s family has not seen their daughter since she ran away in 2010.

Authorities say the girl used a false name, and maintained her identity throughout the process. The family is demanding information for why immigration chose to deport a teenager with no knowledge of Spanish, and why they took her word at the false identity. The family plans to file lawsuits for the agencies involved in the girl’s removal from the country.
