After violent tornadoes ripped through several states of the nation’s mid-section, three children were among five found dead in a town in Oklahoma. Amy Elliot, an Oklahoma medical examiner spokeswoman reported to the Associated Press that Frank Hobie and his two daughters, ages 5 and 7, were killed when a tornado struck their mobile home in Woodward, Okla. Darren Juul and a 10-year-old girl died when a tornado hit the home they were in. Along with the fatalities, there were 29 people taken to Woodward Regional Hospital, due to cuts and serious injuries. Officials continue to search for bodies.

As crews and volunteers worked to clean up the wreck across the damaged region on Sunday, residents braced for three new tornado warnings that were issued until 11 p.m. Since Saturday, there were more than 120 reports of tornadoes from Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska. A double tornado, which is two tornadoes from the same storm, struck Cherokee, Okla., and continued to rip through the Midwest for more than five hours, touching down dozens of times and crossing a distance of 250 miles. A Wichita, Kansas resident who lost her home said, “Everything is just completely gone; it’s just a big empty space like it was never there.”
