Bomb explodes outside prosecutor’s office in Medford, Oregon

Early Wednesday morning, an explosion occurred in Medford, Oregon, damaging the Jackson County prosecutor’s office. Police are now saying that the device was probably intended to damage the whole building. No one was hurt, but Lt. Mike Budreau with the Meford police said that the explosion broke several windows and damaged other parts of the building’s exterior.

“I think that it’s safe to assume that had this bomb went off as it was intended to, it would have most likely destroyed most of the building, and we believe that was the intent of the suspect,” Budreau reported to the Medford Mail Tribune.  Budreau also mentioned that there was a propane tank outside the building that was somehow a part of the bomb. “It did catch fire and emitted a large flame until it eventually burned out,” he said.

Police are now looking into the explosion’s relation to a man who was seen fleeing an officer near the crime scene. “We’re not sure if that is going to be related to this case or if it’s going to be unrelated,” Budreau said.
