Woman killed in Carroll Co. house fire

According to the State Fire Marshal’s office, a fire broke out at a home on Flag Marsh Road in Mount Airy on Sunday morning, killing one woman. One resident was able to get out unharmed before firefighters arrived. Officials say it took roughly 100 firefighters and 40 minutes to control the blaze. One woman was found dead inside the home. Her body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy and identification. The fire started in the living room of the home and damage is estimated at about $200,000.The fire is currently under investigation.
