An investigation is underway in Forestville, Md. regarding two sexual assaults that occurred less than two weeks apart. In the first case, a woman was approached from behind near Surrey Service Road around midnight on Sept. 6. The suspect inappropriately touched her, but she was able to struggle and escape. The suspect has been described as a black male, 25-30 years old, with a short haircut.
The second assault occurred Sept. 16, when another woman was approached from behind in a wooded area near Pennsylvania Avenue and Water’s Lane around 10 p.m. No information has been given on the appearance of the suspect. Police are investigating whether the two attacks are linked, and urge people to be mindful of their surroundings and walk in well-lit areas, preferably with other people.
