Manchester Valley High School student, Steven Priester, has been appointed by Governor Martin O’Malley as the student member of the State Board of Education for the 2014-2015 school year, making him the first student from Carroll County to ever serve on State Board. The eleventh-grader is a member of the Manchester Valley High School Student Government Association and the School Improvement Team. Priester has been an Honor Roll student since 2006 and is a two-time recipient of the President’s Award for Academic Excellence. Virginia Harrison, president of the county’s Board of Education, stated,” I am really confident that he will do a great job representing Carroll County and all the students of Maryland.”
