Maryland will be flying flags at half-staff today in honor of Baltimore City Fire Department Safety Officer Lt. James Bethea. Bethea was found dead earlier this month in a vacant building hours after firefighters responded to a fire in the building next door. After the early blaze was tamed, Bethea began to search the building in which he was found. He was with the department for 40 years. Baltimore City Fire Chief Niles Ford is stated that the death is being investigated. Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley ordered the honor.
