Shoppers at Westfield Annapolis on Black Friday mistakenly believed that a late afternoon fight at the mall had resulted in a shooting. Police say that the incident, which occurred around 4 p.m. on Friday, November 30, did not involve any firearms. The reports say that someone involved in a fight flipped over a table, causing the loud noise that startled other shoppers. News reports on the incident at the time ran with the shooting story, until it was denied by police. Shoppers in some areas of the mall said they took cover after the noise.
