Gun violence increase in Baltimore for 2013

0

Baltimore police are combating what they describe as a spike in violence so far in 2013. There have been twenty-four shootings so far since January 1, double the number recorded in the same time period last year. Police officers are working to address the shootings and other violent crimes in the city–many of which are drug related. Last year, although Washington, DC, saw a decrease in gun violence, shooting homicides in Baltimore increased by twenty to 217. More effective policing strategies are needed to curb shooting deaths in the city.
