The father of the Maryland family killed in a murder-suicide has been confirmed as the shooter.
According to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office 40-year-old Benyam Asefa shot his wife, 42-year-old Barbara Giomarelli following an argument at their home in Near Market Wednesday night.
The couple went into their downstairs kitchen where Asefa shot his wife with a 9mm handgun. Giomarelli was cradling their 3-month-old son Samuel Asefa when the shots were fired, hitting her and the baby.
Asefa then turned the gun on himself.
The couple’s 5-year-old daughter fled to a neighbor’s house, who then called the police.
