A 12-year-old boy recanted a statement he previously made to police claiming a man had tried to abduct him.
According to Prince George’s County police, the child told officials that a man had attempted to abduct him by first persuading him with candy in Capitol Heights Friday.
The police said Sunday the boy later told them his previous statements were false.
Police wish to assure the residents of the community that they consider false reports a serious matter.
