‘The Heidi Chronicles’ revival closes early

The revival of “The Heidi Chronicles” will be closing at the beginning of next month. Producers announced in an ad on Wednesday that “Mad Men” star Elisabeth Moss’ run as heroine Heidi Holland will end on May 3. The play was written by Wendy Wasserstein, and was adapted as a television film in 1995 with Jamie Lee Curtis in the lead role. The early closure is due to poor ticket sales/attendance.  At the time of its closing, the production will have played eighty performances at the Music Box Theater. The play was directed by Pam MacKinnon, and also starred Jason Biggs, Tony Award-nominee Bryce Pinkham and Tracee Chimo. The original run of “The Heidi Chronicles,” which won the Tony Awards for Best Play and Best Featured Actor, as well as the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1989, lasted 620 performances.
