Legendary songstress Patti LaBelle testified Thursday that her bodyguard’s altercation with another man was justified.

LaBelle stated that nearby her limousine at George Bush Intercontinental Airport a man approached yelling obscenities at her.  The 2011 incident resulted in her bodyguard, Efrem Holmes scuffling with the man, Richard King.  King was later sent to the hospital with a head wound.

The altercation was caught on video surveillance and Holmes was charged with misdemeanor assault.

Documentation shows that King’s blood alcohol level was “more than three times the legal limit for driving”.

LaBelle has countersued in response to a civil suit King filed against her and her bodyguard.
