Actor Matthew McConaughey and his longtime girlfriend, model Camila Alves, tied the knot on Saturday. The pair, who has been dating since they met at a bar in 2006, shared a small, intimate wedding in their home in Austin, Texas. Less than two-dozen guests joined the Texas-native McConaughey and the Brazilian-born Alves in a wedding that incorporated the couples’ roots with an “island beach meets Texas” theme that included Brazilian food.
The 42-year-old actor, famous for films “Tropic Thunder” and “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” popped the question on Christmas day. He later announced the engagement via his WhoSay webpage. A representative for McConaughey said Alves, 30, will take the actor’s last name, becoming Camila McConaughey.
McConaughey’s latest movie, “Magic Mike,” is set to hit theaters June 29.
