Lady Gaga opens up about struggle with eating disorders

Lady Gaga responded to the string of recent critiques about her weight gain in a dramatic and rather unexpected way. She went on her website, Littlemonsters.com, and posted pictures of herself wearing nothing but a bra and underwear along with the caption, “Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15.” This profound image signified the singer’s intention to start a Body Revolution, a movement to encourage body acceptance. Lady Gaga wrote that she considers her movement to “celebrate perceived flaws” an extension of the mission of Born This Way Foundation, an organization she started with the purpose of preventing bullying. The post received an overwhelming response. Within just a few days hundreds of Gaga’s “little monsters” posted their own pictures of themselves in underwear and stories about struggle with body image, the goal being to create a place on the internet for people to feel safe to be vulnerable about their bodies and body image.
