Ashton Kutcher under fire for Paterno tweets

0

On Wednesday night, celebrity Ashton Kutcher made a tweet railing against Penn State’s decision to fire head coach Joe Paterno, who was denounced amid the sexual assault scandal involving a former assistant coach. Kutcher was immediately barraged by criticism from his followers (of which he has more than 8 million). He deleted the original tweet, and tweeted an apology admitting ignorance of the story surrounding Paterno’s departure.

On Thursday, Kutcher again apologized in a blog post, and said he will be turning over management of his twitter feed to his team at Katalys Media “to ensure the quality of its content.” Kutcher, who helped pioneer the popularity of Twitter, said the social media platform has grown beyond more than “a fund tool.”
