Archie Comics announced on Thursday that a live-action film of the 72-year-old comic would be made. The film will depict the lives of many key characters such as Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead.
Jason Moore, responsible for “Glee” and “Pitch Perfect”, will be directing the film. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will be writing the script.
In an interview on Thursday, Aguirre-Sacasa said the film would be a “a quintessential teen movie.” “The idea for this is to capture a very truthful, authentic coming-of-age story with these kids that includes heartache, that includes pain, that will obviously temper the fun and the hijinks. It’s going to be a fun — hopefully — summer movie, but we’re not shying away from the truth and the awkwardness and the growing pains of being a teenager.”
No start date has been scheduled for the production.
