Release of iPhone 4S draws large crowds

Buyers lined up overnight for the chance to be the first to buy the iPhone 4S, the latest model in the company’s lineup. Among them was Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, who set up an armchair and sent e-mails from his iPad while waiting. Wozniak said that while he could get his phone directly from Apple, he preferred to wait in line with fans. He signed Apple products for the people waiting in line and posed for photographs.

The release of the iPhone 4S came in the wake of Steve Jobs’ death, the Apple co-founder who died last week. Fans created makeshift memorials to Jobs that included flowers, photos, iPad boxes and actual apples.
