Private 2nd Class Travis King, who crossed the border into North Korea in July, is now in U.S. custody. Prior to crossing the border, King had served nearly two months in a South Korean prison on assault charges.

On Wednesday, North Korea announced that they would expel King after 71 days. North Korea claimed King admitted to illegally crossing the border. The punishment for going AWOL in the military ranges from a forfeit of pay, military jail sentence, or dishonorable discharge.
