WASHINGTON, DC NEWS – Washington, D.C. elementary school hit with bullets during school hours

Stanton Elementary School located in Southeast Washington, D.C. was struck by bullets around 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Following the gunshots, the school was placed on lockdown. No one was injured, but an empty fifth grade and kindergarten classroom were each struck by the rounds. 

The elementary school principal, Allen Richardson, sent a letter to the parents after the shooting, “I want to acknowledge that coping with the effects of community violence is a difficult experience, and we will support our Stanton family in any way we can.”
