D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced a new program that would supply select District residents with free tracking tags for their vehicles. The tracking tags would allow the owners to trace their vehicle if it was stolen.

The tags will be distributed to those who live in neighborhoods with high vehicle theft rates. The tags will be distributed from Nov 7-9 and proof of residency is required to receive one.
