There have been earthquakes in Virginia for the past two weekends. A 2.2 magnitude earthquake struck Stuart’s Draft, Virginia on Oct. 15 followed by a 2.5 magnitude aftershock that hit around 4 a.m. on Sunday. There have been no reported injuries from either earthquake.
The current earthquakes are happening in the same seismic zones as the 5.8 magnitude earthquake in Mineral, Virginia in 2011. The damage from that earthquake is estimated to be around $200 to $300 million.
