Rep. Mike Johnson was elected as the new House speaker on Wednesday. The House reopens after 22 days without a speaker after Rep. Kevin McCarthy was ousted. The current government funding is set to run out on Nov. 17.
“The urgency of this moment demands bold, decisive action to restore trust, advance our legislative priorities, and demonstrate good governance,” Johnson shared on social media. “Our House Republican Conference is united, and eager to work.”
