Rep. Jim Jordan, R-OH, failed to secure enough votes in the first House speaker vote on Tuesday. 20 Republicans voted against Jordan for speaker. The House is expected to vote again on Wednesday morning.
Jordan claims that he’s willing to go through however many ballots it takes to secure a speaker. “We gotta have a speaker, and it can’t be some deal with the Democrats,” Jordan told reporters. “I mean, the American people don’t want that.”
