Former President Donald Trump was unable to secure an insurance company to underwrite his bond to cover the $464 million judgement against him in his New York civil fraud case. The bond is due at the end of this month and Trump’s lawyers have stated that they are having trouble securing a bond.
“The amount of the judgment, with interest, exceeds $464 million, and very few bonding companies will consider a bond of anything approaching that magnitude,” stated Trump’s lawyers. If Trump fails to post the bond, the New York Attorney General Letitia James can begin collecting while he appeals the judgment.
