MARYLAND NEWS – Former governor, O’Malley, confirmed as commissioner of the Social Security Administration

The Senate voted on Monday to confirm former Maryland Democratic Governor Martin O’Malley as the new commissioner of the Social Security Administration. The Social Security Administration has been run by an acting commissioner since 2021.

O’Malley was elected as governor of Maryland in 2006 and served until 2015. As the new commissioner, he will serve a six-year term.
