Some metro stations shut down to replace escalators

On Monday, metro riders will have to contend with partial shutdowns of the metro system. The WMATA is reporting that Georgia Avenue-Petworth station in Northwest, Glenmont and Deanwood are just few of the stations that will be fully or partially shut down while escalator’s are replaced. Over the past 5 years, metro has replaced 39 escalators.

President Obama makes historic trip to Cuba

President Obama on Sunday arrived to Havana, Cuba on a historic trip where he will meet with Cuba’s president, Raul Castro. Obama arrive with the First Lady and his daughters to the country that has been estranged from the U.S. since 1961 when the two countries severed ties. After Fidel Castro’s revolution, Americans were not allowed to travel to Cuba. This will be the first time a U.S. president visits Cuba in 88 years. “This is a historic visit and a historic opportunity,” President Obama said on arriving to the country.

Former Trump business associate wants criminal record sealed

Felix Sater, a former business partner of Donald Trump, is seeking to have his criminal records and cooperation with federal authorities in an investigation of a Mafia-linked financial scheme sealed permanently. U.S. District Judge Brian M. Cogan is warning that Sater’s records will be unsealed after April 18 if prosecutors who handled the case do not request to keep them sealed. In 2010, Sater worked for Trump and according to reports, had an office in the building that houses Trumps office. For his criminal activity, Sater was required to pay over $60 million of restitution the victims of the stock fraud scheme that he participated in.

Two Pennsylvania toll collectors gunned down by former trooper

Clarence Briggs, a retired state trooper in Fort Littleton, PA shot two toll collectors, Danny Crouse and Ronald Heist, at their collection station on Sunday. Crouse would died on the scene from his wounds. Briggs then shot at the toll collection vehicle, took the vehicle from the driver and began unloading the money found inside. Police arrived at the scene and shot and killed Briggs. The chairman of the turnpike in a statement, vowed to insure safety in the future for all toll collectors.

ENTERTAINMENT

Hulk Hogan awarded $115 million in sex tape lawsuit

Former wrestler and reality show star, Hulk Hogan, has won and been awarded $115 million in a lawsuit he filed against the online website Gawker. After Gawker posted online a sex tape of Hogan and his former best friend’s wife, the video went viral. The case against Gawker would challenge the right to privacy. The $115 million does not include punitive damages, which are still pending.
