Obama committed to Israel’s sovereignty

World – President Obama has set out to ensure Israel is properly equipped for protection against Iran. Obama is promoting a strategy to keep Iran from executing future attacks by offering resources to maintain Israel’s military advantage. The President made a statement clarifying that “if Israel were to be attacked by any state, that we would stand by them.”

 

New ‘Walking Dead’ celebrity arrested

Entertainment – “The Walking Dead” has begun its sixth season of filming, but it wasn’t long before another star found himself in trouble. Seth Gilliam, a new actor cast in last season as a conflicted Reverend, was arrested Sunday in Georgia. He was charged with a DUI, drug possession and excessive speeding, caught by radar patrol at 107 mph in a 55mph zone.

 

115 mph baseball struck pitcher’s face

Sports News – The Arizona Diamondbacks’ pitcher was struck in the face after an 83 mph pitch that was return at full-force and then some. After Colorado slugger Carlos Gonzalez knocked the ball back to Bradley’s face, Bradley remembers feeling dumbfounded and told reporters, “I didn’t know what had happened…he kept telling me how sorry he was..but you know it’s baseball. We know what we are getting ourselves into.”

 

Police brutality stirs political unrest in Macedonia

World – Over 1,000 opposition supporters stood their ground outside Macedonia’s parliament on Wednesday to speak out against police brutality and homicides. A similar demonstration left 38 officers injured. Rallying and now calling for the resignation of their Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski’s governments, is hoped to expose the buried reports of police misconduct.

 

District firefighter dies battling inferno

Washington D.C. – A veteran Washington D.C. firefighter died after he helped battle an inferno in a high-rise complex. In Logan Circle neighborhood, three other people, including another firefighter, were wounded in the fire. Mayor Bowser identified the fallen firefighter as Lt. Kevin McRae, a 24-year veteran in the department.

 

Potomac tributary massively polluted from sewage pipes

Maryland – There is a leak in a 14-inch pipe carrying raw sewage, causing 10,000 gallons to spill out into the Maryland neighborhood, Oxon Hill. The Washington Sanitary Commission reported the problem Sunday, but since then there have been even more massive amounts of spilled waste. Before any repairs can be made, there must be a 7,000 foot pipe installed to divert the flow of spillage.

 

Mayor mandates police body cameras this year

Maryland – Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake called investigators Wednesday to discover if the police display tendencies of excessive force and discriminatory practices. The mayor acknowledges excessive force complaints and the lawsuits claiming criminality of police conduct. She continues to attempt healing the rift, of what she calls, “a fractured relationship between the police and the community.”

 

Hillary Clinton struggles to turn over the Clinton legacy

Politics – Hillary Clinton will be visiting Nevada Tuesday and making her stand parallel with the path to citizenship for immigrants living in the U.S., illegally. Meanwhile, her press advisers are swatting back rumors and putting out old fires concerning her family’s controversy. Democrats are worried that Hillary Clinton is not getting the fresh start she wanted this election year.
