Fire in VCU dorm set by student

Javier A. Chavez, a 22-year-old student from Sterling, VA is facing charges for setting fires in a Virginia Commonwealth University dormitory. The fires, started in two bathroom trashcans, caused more than $20,000 in damages. Although the building was evacuated before any injuries were sustained, Chavez is facing felony charges for setting a fire in an occupied building.
