The FBI has announced that DNA evidence has definitively linked the 1996 murders of two young women in Shenandoah National Park to convicted serial rapist Darrell David Rice. The victims, Lollie Winans and Julie Williams, were found dead in their campsite, a case that remained unsolved for nearly three decades.

This breakthrough was made possible by advancements in DNA technology, allowing investigators to match DNA found at the crime scene to Rice, who is currently serving time for other crimes. Rice had previously been a suspect but was not charged due to insufficient evidence. The new DNA evidence, however, conclusively ties him to the brutal killings, underscoring the importance of forensic science in solving cold cases.
