Obama accepts the nomination

President Obama accepted his party’s nomination last night in a speech that was marked as lacking the motivational rhetoric that was used in his 2008 campaign. Instead was a straight forward speech that focused on the economy and foreign policy. Obama began the speech by saying that it was going to take more than four years to repair the damage that took decades in making. “We are not going back, we are moving forward, America” Obama said. In his speech he asked Americans to support a “real achievable plan that will create jobs, expand opportunity and ensure an economy built to last.”

Obama went on to comment on the jobs created during his term, saying “after a decade of decline, this country created over a half million manufacturing jobs in the last two and a half years,” This comes after reports show slowing job growth for the month of August.  When turning to national security, Obama commented “a new tower rises above the New York skyline, al-Qaida is on the path to defeat and Osama bin Laden is dead.” He criticized Romney’s diplomacy skills after his mistake in questioning London security before the Olympics.
