New Iowa tally, Santorum finished ahead of Romney

In a new tally put out on Wednesday, a recount showed Republican presidential candidate, Rick Santorum, finishing 34 votes ahead of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. The reported votes show that Santorum had 29,839 to Romney’s 29,805. The problem was reported by the Des Moines Register.

In a statement made by Romney, he said, “I would like to thank the Iowa Republican Party for their careful attention to the caucus process and we once again recognize Rick Santorum for his strong performance in the state.” The official votes from the Iowa caucuses will be released by the Iowa Republican Party on Thursday morning.
