A Gallup poll released today shows that only 36 percent of Americans surveyed could identify which political party controls the House, and which controls the Senate. Among those registered to vote, 41 percent correctly named the party for each chamber. The correct answer, that the House is Republican-controlled, and the Senate, Democrat, was not chosen more by supporters of either party. 55 percent of those that could name the correct majority say that party control matters to them a great deal. The Senate majority could switch in the midterm elections, if the GOP gains six seats.
