Cain ‘reassessing’ continuing presidential campaign

Following allegations of a 13-year extramarital affair, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain has said he is “reassessing” the viability of a Presidential run at this time. Cain has flatly denied an affair took place, contrary to the claims of Atlanta businesswoman Ginger White. An anonymous campaign source said Cain will likely reach a decision “within a few days,” based on whether donors and Republicans will believe the newest allegations.

The small campaign operation may be forced to lay off some staffers if Cain’s fundraising dries up. “We just staffed up some, but at a minimum it looks like (there is) no choice but to staff down,” the source said. Cain’s Iowa chairman, Steve Grubbs, said Cain spoke with his staff Tuesday morning, saying the continued allegations of sexual impropriety “are taking an emotional toll on his family and that this is a very difficult time.”
