Sequestration affects Marines and Navy

The Navy and Marine Corps are telling lawmakers that sequestration is causing military readiness to erode. Although the impacts of sequestration are supposed to be gradual, the Department of Defense’s two sea services have been feeling its effects already.

Sequestration has resulted in reduced training and maintenance for both the Navy and the Marine Corps. These reductions are causing non-deployed ships and aviation squadrons to be less than fully mission capable and not certified for major combat operations.
