Penn State’s Joe Paterno under scrutiny amid Sandusky sex abuse scandal

Penn State’s Joe Paterno, head coach for 46 seasons, is under scrutiny with trustees promising an investigation of the circumstances that led to Jerry Sandusky’s indictment in a sex abuse scandal. Two university officials were also tied to a cover-up. Paterno is under pressure because of his response to reports of Sandusky’s sexual assault of a young boy.

Paterno reported the allegations to his boss, according to state law, but some critics have stated he should have reported the incident to the police. Paterno’s son said on his twitter account that the rumors of Paterno’s retirement were “premature.” Fans of Paterno came out to support him outside his home.
