Representative Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is undergoing treatment. Despite her illness, she remains committed to her legislative duties, although she may miss some votes.

Jackson Lee, who is 74, has served in Congress for about 30 years and recently reintroduced the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. She continues to advocate for public education and other critical issues. Pancreatic cancer is relatively rare, affecting 1.7% of people in their lifetime, with a higher incidence in non-Hispanic Black individuals.
